In the lungs, tiny blood vessels called capillaries absorb. The left ventricle pumps this blood through the aortic semilunar valve and into the aorta, which is the major systemic artery. The veins carry the blood back to your heart and lungs to get more oxygen, and the trip starts all over again.

The pulmonary system is the path blood takes through the lungs receiving fresh oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide.

Once through the lungs, the blood flows back to the left atrium. The circulated blood, which has 'lost' its oxygen and collected carbon di oxide enters in to right atrium. Oxygenated blood leaves the lungs and returns to the heart through the pulmonary veins and enters the left atrium. Your heart is the pump that makes it all possible.
